Well, I bought the 1D mark III. I received it yesterday.

Today I’m returning it, yey!



Reasons:

1. didn’t need it

2. was too much to spend on a camera, I felt quite silly

3. I realised I have actually lost a lot of interest in photography, which sucks.

4. there are more important things I could have spent the money on

5. Whenever I am asked how much I spent, I feel embarrassed and foolish. (not saying everyone who owns one is foolish)

6. problems with the camera itself (see below)




My camera had it’s AF problem fixed, which was cool. But I really disliked a few things about it..




1. The white balance for indoor shots was horrendous! It took a long time to set a custom WB just to make a shot look acceptable. I should say this could be because I am a retard.

2. The bloody shutter makes the whole camera shake! You’ll need a lens with image stabilisation just to counteract it!

3. There was no fully automatic function, I know it’s a “rofessional camera” but still, I would like to be able to wack the bastard on and start firing!

4. You always have to set the ISO speed (I think) which is really part of point 3.

5. I thought it was pointlessly big, I couldn’t believe sheer size of it!

6. Didn’t like the shutter noise (how fussy am I?)




I suppose I should mention some good points:

1. The focusing was cool, but not exactly fast, which was what I was expecting. The pictures were generally very sharp.

2. The 10fps was of course very impressive, but would be better if the shutter noise was better (if only the shutter sounded like…the chipmunks theme tune) :-|

3. It looked cool big and professional, I’m sure if I went out with it, it would make me more of a man. haha

4. the live view was good, amazing for focusing as you can zoom right in on the monitor and focus…




I’m not saying it’s a bad camera, its definitely good, but just not the one for me…

I might buy the 5D if I decide I really want a camera. Or I could stick with my 350D. wahhhh.

I’m looking forward to the refunded money :-D
